About The Role:

At Paysend, our products handle millions of money movements across markets, where reliability and accuracy are critical. Behind every transaction is a complex set of systems and processes that need to work exactly as expected.

We are looking for a QA Engineer to join our team and help ensure the quality and reliability of our web and mobile products.

You will test real-world customer scenarios across multiple platforms and services, investigating issues across APIs, microservices, databases, and asynchronous processes to understand what happens at every step.

We are looking for someone who combines strong testing fundamentals with technical curiosity and a practical understanding of how complex products work.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

• Functional, regression and acceptance testing of user scenarios across web, iOS and Android.

• Testing money flows: transfers, card top-up/withdraw, FX and rates, tariffs, limits, fees, bonuses and referrals.

• Testing onboarding and KYC, including the integration with our verification provider (Sumsub).

• Testing payment and authentication integrations: 3DS/SCA, Google Pay, Apple Pay, OTP and passcode.

• API testing (REST/gRPC): inspecting requests, responses and traces, validating contracts and error handling.

• Testing interaction between microservices: asynchronous scenarios, events in queues, idempotency, retries and degradation paths.

• Verifying state in the database: transaction and process statuses, balances, profile data.

• Requirements analysis and participation in grooming: reviewing user stories, raising questions about design and logic early, assessing risk.

• Designing and maintaining test cases and test plans, tracking defects in Jira, taking part in release checks.

• Preparing test data and working with test environments.

• Mentoring junior colleagues and helping evolve QA practices and processes in the team.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:

• 6+ years in manual testing, a meaningful part of it in fintech, banking, payments or another product that moves money.

• Experience testing a single product across web and mobile (iOS/Android), with a good grasp of cross-device and responsive specifics.

• Experience with and understanding of testing microservice-based applications: how to test a service in isolation and in combination, where to look for the root cause of a failure, what an asynchronous scenario is and why it breaks.

• Hands-on experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ or similar): reading and publishing messages, verifying events within a scenario.

• Practical API testing: Postman/Insomnia or equivalents, working with REST, reading logs and traces; gRPC is a plus.

• Confident SQL at the level of queries and joins (PostgreSQL or a similar database).

• Basic programming skills in any language (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.) — enough to write a script, read someone else's code and prepare test data.

• Experience using AI tools to optimise and automate day-to-day work: generating and reviewing test cases, analysing logs, preparing data, speeding up routine tasks.

• Experience with a test management system (Allure TestOps or similar) and Jira, and the ability to write clear, reproducible bug reports with enough context for a developer.

• Confident use of browser dev tools and a debugging proxy for network inspection (Charles, Proxyman, Fiddler).

• Systems thinking: the ability to decompose a scenario and find edge and negative cases, not just walk the happy path.

• English at a level that supports fluent working communication in a distributed team.

Nice To Have:

• Domain knowledge: the payment lifecycle, transaction statuses, currency conversion, fees and limits, KYC/AML requirements as they show up in the user journey.

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform

• An understanding of how E2E automation works (Playwright, visual regression) and the ability to shape manual coverage so that it complements it.

• Experience with server-driven UI or configuration-driven scenarios.
