Head of IT Platform
About The Role:
We are looking for a highly experienced IT Platform Head to lead and evolve Paysend’s global platform infrastructure. This role is both strategic and hands-on, responsible for DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), systems administration, and network engineering.
You will ensure the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of our production systems across multiple regions while building and leading high-performing platform teams. Acting as a key partner to the CTO, you will drive platform strategy, operational excellence, and modern infrastructure practices in a highly regulated fintech environment.
This is a leadership role requiring deep technical expertise, operational ownership, and the ability to work cross-functionally.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Platform & Infrastructure Strategy
Define and execute the global platform and infrastructure roadmap aligned with Paysend’s business growth.
Architect scalable, secure, and highly available distributed systems.
Own cloud infrastructure, networking, CI/CD, observability, and production reliability.
Continuously improve platform performance, uptime, and operational efficiency.
DevOps & SRE Leadership
Lead and manage DevOps, SRE, SysAdmin, and Network Engineering teams.
Establish reliability engineering principles, SLOs/SLAs, and incident management processes.
Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation, and zero-downtime deployment strategies.
Implement best practices in monitoring, alerting, logging, and capacity planning.
Operational Excellence & Resilience
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities across global regions.
Own incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and post-mortem culture.
Maintain strong change management and production governance practices.
Drive continuous improvement in system stability and operational maturity.
Security & Compliance
Partner closely with Security to implement robust infrastructure security controls.
Ensure infrastructure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards (e.g., PCI DSS, ISO, SOC2 where applicable).
Champion secure-by-design principles across infrastructure and DevOps pipelines.
Collaboration & Business Alignment
Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to support product roadmaps.
Provide technical insight to executive leadership on scalability, risk, and infrastructure investments.
Support international expansion with robust regional infrastructure solutions.
Leadership & Culture
Build, mentor, and scale high-performing platform teams.
Promote engineering excellence, automation-first mindset, and accountability.
Lead by example - remain hands-on with architecture reviews, troubleshooting, and critical incidents.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:
5+ years in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering.
3+ years in leadership roles managing distributed technical teams.
Proven experience in high-scale, mission-critical production environments (ideally fintech, payments, banking, or other regulated industries).
Experience operating global cloud-native infrastructure.
Technical Expertise:
Strong expertise in cloud platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure).
Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, container orchestration, and microservices architecture.
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
Strong background in CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
Advanced knowledge of networking, load balancing, DNS, VPNs, firewalls.
Experience implementing observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, etc.).
Strong understanding of security best practices and compliance frameworks.
Experience with high-availability systems and disaster recovery planning.
