System Administrator
About The Role:
The System Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining the company’s IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and security systems. This role ensures the stability, efficiency, and security of all technical operations, provides support for hardware and software issues, manages user access and permissions, and implements system upgrades and patches as needed.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Core Responsibilities:
- Deploying and managing software, user groups, and operating system policies across the entire hybrid IT environment (on-premises and cloud).
- Administration of Windows and Linux servers, both on-prem and in AWS / GCP environments.
- Managing core infrastructure roles and services such as Active Directory, DNS, NTP, RDS, Certificate Authority, IIS, and File Services.
- Performing MSSQL administration including backup, cluster configuration, performance tuning, and maintenance.
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining software (Windows, Linux, macOS), hardware (HP Proliant, HP MSA), network devices (Cisco, Arista, Fortigate, Forcepoint, Palo Alto, Juniper), and application components.
- Implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting cloud networking components such as VPCs, VPNs, load balancers, Cloud DNS, and interconnects across AWS and GCP.
- Managing SAN and Storage technologies, including cloud-based storage (S3, EBS, Google Cloud Storage, Filestore).
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving software, hardware, cloud, and network issues across the stack.
- Ensuring secure storage, backup, and disaster recovery using tools such as Veeam, AWS Backup, and GCP Backup and DR.
- Replacing and upgrading outdated or defective components, both physical and virtual.
- Identifying and implementing strategies for optimal performance and cost efficiency across on-prem and cloud infrastructure.
- Enforcing security best practices, IAM principles, and compliance standards to prevent security breaches.
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of IT processes and keeping the CMDB up to date.
- Managing and supporting virtualisation platforms (VMware, EC2, Compute Engine) and container technologies (ECS, GKE).
- Administering and supporting MDM solutions (Intune, Jamf) for endpoint management.
- Collaborating with DevOps, Security, Monitoring, and DBA teams to ensure cohesive delivery and operations.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role:
- Proven experience with AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, CloudFormation or Terraform) and GCP (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, Cloud Logging, Deployment Manager or Terraform).
- Experience with automation and IaC tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Packer, and GitLab CI/CD.
- Scripting experience in PowerShell, Bash, or Python for automation and orchestration.
- Familiarity with collaboration and productivity tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, Jira, Confluence.
- Experience with fault-tolerant and highly available architectures, including load balancing and multi-region deployments.
- Knowledge of Opensearch, Cloudflare, or equivalent observability and CDN solutions is a plus.
- Experience integrating monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Strong understanding of identity management, cloud networking, and security controls in hybrid environments.
